Ayush Sharma - Week 9: The King of the Jungle
Lions have a very famous title that is known as "King of the Jungle." But why is that? Is it due to their sheer strength and ability to conquer basically any territory or any animal they face? Or is it due to their pride and how they work together with other lions to ensure a particular task gets done? Well, I think it’s a mix of both. I believe lions are who they are based on the “lionhood” they have with other males and females as well as their physical superiority that never fails to strike fear in other predators/prey.
The lions always make sure to take care of one another, whether it is by sharing food or just coming to the rescue when being attacked by another animal. This ensures that a sense of security and power is spread across the entire pride, and in turn it leads to a significant increase in confidence. Due to evolution, over time, lions will have an inbuilt mindset that their capability to defeat other competitors as well as defend territory will be far more superior to other animals. Due to this mindset, it is much easier to maintain an attitude that allows these fierce beats to overcome adversity and be an apex predator in the world. Believe it or not, lions do share a lot of common characteristics with humans!
Next up, there is the physical aspect that lions portray against most if not all animals. Other than bears or tigers, lions have a huge chance of defeating their prey and also asserting their dominance on any geographical location. Lions are said to be really sharp canines, and they “can reach up to 7 centimeters in length.” Apart from that, their overwhelming weight and large paws can ensure that any animal that comes their way has only one option, which is to beg for mercy.
Lions are amazing creatures. They have consistently proven to be dominant animals but also are respected not only for their fierce personality, but their loyalty for other lions and creatures. They can be depicted as a source of power, and can also represent honor and royalty. I sure hope to own a lion as a pet one day…just joking. In all seriousness, I believe that lions are creatures that must be protected at all costs and are one of God’s best creations.
Hi Ayush! I didn't know that much about lions before reading your blog, so it was interesting to learn more about them and how they earn their title as the “Kings of the Jungle.” I also never realized that their canines are 7 centimeters! I am glad you based your blog on facts to teach us more about lions.
ReplyDeleteI personally have always loved learning about animals. Your blog made me wonder what other animals can compete with lions in terms of raw strength. In my opinion, the most important part of lions that make them stand out compared to other animals is the sense of loyalty. Although many other animals also have loyalty, the tough and dominant lion still maintaining loyalty is something that is a little surprising to me!
I enjoyed your blog this week, Ayush! I definitely think such a powerful animal is a good inclusion under the topic of power. Thank you for sharing!
Hey Ayush, after reading your blog, I realized how perfect lions are for this quarter’s blog topic. When I think of lions, the first thing that comes to mind is the word “power.” Lions have become synonymous with power since they have been regarded as the “King of the Jungle” in many cultures over history. Due to their biological advantage over many other animals in the jungle, lions stand out as the Apex predator as you mentioned. I would have never connected lions with humans due to our species’ complex social dynamics, but now that you mention it, it makes complete sense to make this comparison. Both species have the inherent tendency to form structured groups to survive. The real power of lions lies in their ability to balance individual strength and collective effort, which is what defines the power of pride.
