Rafael Montes Barrera - Week 11 - The Power of Press: Bianca Censori and Ye Flash the Grammys
Last week, Ye (Kanye West) and his wife Bianca Censori arrived at the Grammys in Los Angeles. Under normal circumstances, many familiar with Ye could chalk this up to as another one of his past antics. This appearance, however, “outstripped” everyone’s expectations.
Dated February 2nd, the 67th Grammy Awards was set to progress like usual until Ye and Bianca Censori had arrived. Much of their arrival was recorded on a livestream by popular Twitch streamer Kai Cenat. His stream allows us to pinpoint the pair’s appearance. Around the 1 hour, 44 minutes point, Kai Cenat spotted Ye and Censori. Notably, Censori was wearing a full-length black fur coat that she would later drop to reveal her controversial outfit on the red carpet. Naturally, Kai Cenat proceeded to greet and hug Ye—an action that definitively put to rest the short-lived internet beef between them. Kai Cenat would go on to stream for over an hour but Ye and Censori were fortunately not featured again.
A few hours after Kai Cenat’s stream, Ye and Censori walked the red carpet. What’s important is that the couple were not immediately escorted out of the event simply for possibly** being uninvited. While they most likely would have been denied entry to stage showroom seating. The two posed under normal circumstances. Interestingly, Ye quietly spoke to Bianca during this time before the incident. Information provided by Yahoo Entertainment details Nicola Hickling, a lip reader, allegedly interpreted that Ye told Censori to ““Make a scene.”” Ye allegedly reassured Censori by saying he would ““say it'll make so much sense.”” After nodding yes, Censori proceeded to face away from the cameras and took off her coat to reveal a see-through fabric dress in front of photographers and guests. The pair likely posed to recreate the Vultures 1 album cover that features the two in similar outfits. According to The Economic Times the pair wasn’t escorted but instead, Ye seemingly just decided to leave the red carpet with Censori after a few minutes. However, there are other conflicting accounts as to whether they were escorted from the venue or not.
While many details around Ye and Censori’s Grammy appearance are disputed or unclear, the nature around their actions is not. What they did was obscene and inappropriate, but not improbable for Ye. Established early on in his music career, Kanye West has been outspoken about his addiction and obsession with pornography. Censori herself is an example of this as she has been seen wearing several similarly revealing outfits, though none as extreme as this. However, her role in this situation remains unclear—she may have been manipulated into participating. While Ye’s long-standing fixation with pornography manifests in his album covers or artwork, they are a far cry from being recreated in real life. To make matters worse, witnesses at the red carpet weren’t restricted to adults. A child was photographed as a witness to the event. According to photographic proof provided by the Economic Times, a young boy saw the situation and went viral for his shocked yet “bored” expression that many online found reflected the sentiment around Ye in 2025.
While the situation with Ye is pressing, Ye’s former and current fans are posed with a dilemma. As a Ye fan myself, I wouldn't want to condemn a person I once looked up to. However, it is clear that both he and Censori are at fault and deserve backlash. Other fans will disagree. They will write this off as another controversy in Ye’s long history. Many that don’t have the decency to admit He's wrongdoings will defend him and therefore glorify his degeneracy and encourage him to spiral further. Being a “yes-man” for Ye means only holding him back further. Being as candid as possible, I want to clarify this isn’t simply denouncing Ye—it’s for holding him accountable for his immaturity and allowing his fetishes to dictate his actions.

Hey Rafael, I thought that Ye’s recent controversy at the Grammy’s was outright degenerate, considering his once legendary status in the music industry. He usually goes on Twitter rampages before releasing albums to garner media and public attention, but this stunt destroyed any remaining respect fans had for him. It was interesting to read about the different accounts of Ye’s red carpet walk. I never realized how unreliable certain sources could be when it comes to retelling high-profile events. If I had only read one article on an issue, I wouldn’t understand the full scope of the event, as you mentioned with The Economic Times and Yahoo Entertainment. However, one thing is almost certain: Ye needs to reform himself to better understand other’s boundaries and opinions. His countless manipulations of women and polarizing opinions are at the cost of his career and public perception. Thanks for sharing Rafael!
